CONOVER, NC - While the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series didn't end the way the Faith Motorsports team had hoped it would, it did show improvement in just about every area over 2008's race results.
According to team statistician Dave Pack, Morgan Shepherd and his crew improved its average finishing position by just over five spots from a 31.8-place average finishing position in 2008 to 26.7 after the 2009 race season.
The team also was able to complete 86.3 percent of the laps in the races it qualified for in 2009, also an improvement over the 54.0 percent the team logged in 2008.
While Shepherd fully expected a Top 10 finish or two in 2009, the team did manage five Top 20 finishes. It only enjoyed two Top 20s the previous year, Pack's statistics show.
Faith Motorsports recorded 10 Top 25s in 2009, also an improvement over the eight Top 25 finishes Shepherd logged in 2008.
The team also cut it's Did Not Finish totals from 16 races in 2008 to just six in 2009.
